INSPIRED TO INNOVATE

Illustration and animation for The Association of Illustration member's exhibition at Hoxton Arches

during October 2019 with the theme "Innovation"

Innovation has led illustration from the very beginning, from cave paintings and vase decorations honouring the gods to commercial illustration. Innovation has transformed the images of our day to day and interwoven them to our perception of history. The illustration takes the audience through a short journey of the history of illustration. Three separate panels tell the story, as a triptych. We start with illuminated manuscripts, passing by ukiyo-e, 18th-century etchings, art nouveau, to the present and the future. To portray the future the last panel will include a QR code that the audience can scan with their phones and will take them to an animated parallax version of the painting.
